Tom Amberg

Tom Amberg, Jr. - Tom is the principal of Amberg/Harvey and practices in the areas of bankruptcy, collection defense and corporate restructuring. Prior to this, Tom worked at a boutique bankruptcy firm in Sacramento, California, where he practiced exclusively in the areas of bankruptcy and collection defense. Before coming to Sacramento, Tom worked in Paris, France at a UK-based “Magic Circle” law firm in the field of International Arbitration.

Tom holds a Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Political Science from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He is originally from Chicago, Illinois. 

Tom is admitted to practice law in the State of California and the District of Columbia. Tom primarily practices in the Eastern, Northern and Central Districts of California. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and he is a past president of the Sacramento Valley Bankruptcy Forum. Tom is a member of the Eastern District Attorney Advisory Committee, and he was selected as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. Tom is also a Member of The Anthony M. Kennedy American Inn of Court.

Tom is currently an Adjunct Professor of Bankruptcy Law at The University of The Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

Thomas B. Harvey - Thomas is now retired from private practice and currently works with The Children’s Defense Fund as its National Litigation Strategist. Thomas is also a Co-Founder and former Executive Director of the Arch City Defenders, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing holistic legal representation to communities of color and working poor in the St. Louis region.  Thomas is licensed in both California and Missouri
